Description & Properties:
Metronidazole is synthetic
antiprotozoal and antibacterial.
Each oral tablet contains: 250
mg Metronidazole.
Each vaginal tablets containts:
500 mg Metronidazole.
Each 5 ml suspension contains:
200 mg Benzoyl
Metronidazole equivalent of
125 mg Metronidazole.
Indications:
- intestinal
and hepatic amoebiasis.
- Urogenital
trichomoniasis.
- Lambliasis.
- Anaerobic
infections.
Dosage and Administration:
- For
intestinal and hepatic
amoebiasis:
Adults: 6 tablets per days
dividid into 3 doses.
Children: 30-40 mg / kg body
weight per day divided into 3
doses.
The duration of treatment is
usally 7 consecutive days.
- Urogenital
trichomoniasis:
In the male the usual daily dose
is 3 tablets for 6 to 7 days.
In the female a combined
treatment of 10 days consists of
a daily oral administration of 2
tablets and placing each night
high in the vaginal valult of
one vaginal tablet.
- Lambliasis:
Adults: 3-4 tablets daily.
Children: 15 mg / kg body weight
per day divided into 3 doses.
The duration of treatment
usually 5 consecutive days
- Anaerobic
infections:
Adults: 4-6 tablets daily.
Children: 20-30 mg/kg body
weight per day. |
